Balliang Tree April

Fire became a feature of the landscape for weeks as farmers burned off the old crops in a particularly smoky season. The flames were controlled and low burning but would still take out the odd fence post if given the chance, so I hoped the Balliang Tree would still be standing by May!

The chances of being around at just the right moment were slim, so I was fortunate to capture this scene as the lingering flames mirrored a glowing horizon which soon dissipated into darkness.
